Anaheim police shot a man they said was armed with a knife when officers looking for a sexual assault suspect found him late Saturday night.
The unidentified man, who is 25, was treated at the scene, then taken to a hospital. His condition was not described in a brief release from the department. No officers were injured.
The shooting took place around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, when officers found the man, who was named in an arrest warrant for sexual assault, in the 2500 block of East Ward Terrace, police said.
The department did not describe what led to the shooting beyond saying the man was armed with a knife, or whether more than one officer fired at the suspect.
The scene was being investigated by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, and the department’s homicide unit, along with its major incident review team. Representatives from the city’s Office of Independent Review and Police Review Board also went to the scene.
