DANA POINT – A suspect and a California Highway Patrol officer were injured early Sunday, Jan. 28, authorities said.
It happened at 1:30 a.m. in the Dana Strand beach parking lot near Pacific Coast Highway, Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Steve Gil said.
The suspect fled after the officer-involved shooting but was located after an extensive search, Gil said.
Both suspect and officer were taken to hospitals for treatment, he said.
Details on what led up to the shooting and the nature of the officer’s and suspect’s injuries were not available. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department was investigating, Gil said.
