Congregations members from California Zion Church in Anaheim — many of whom live in Monrovia — just wanted to say thank you to fire crews who’ve spent tireless weeks fighting the mammoth Bobcat fire.
So, on Wednesday, Sept. 30, they delivered coffee, water, pillows and handwritten notes of thanks to Monrovia firefighters at Fire Station 101.
This week, crews continued to keep the Bobcat fire at bay, with authorities now expecting to fully contain the blaze that has caused an estimated $54 million in damage by Oct. 30.
Firefighters are building more containment lines, said Andrew Mitchell, a spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service, adding that firefighters are working to make sure the blaze stayed in its footprint.
