An armed man was shot by at least one deputy on Monday, June 19, in a Diamond Bar neighborhood, authorities said.
The suspect was hospitalized with his condition unknown.
No deputy was injured in the confrontation at Diamond Bar Boulevard and Crooked Creek Drive, said Deputy Miguel Meza, a sheriff’s spokesman.
The Sheriff’s Department received a call around 11:45 a.m. about a man wearing a bullet-proof vest with an assault rifle who was shooting, he said.
It was unclear what he was shooting at, and it had not been confirmed that the suspect had on such a vest.
Meza did not have details on what prompted at least one deputy to shoot the suspect.
A rifle was found at the scene, Meza said.
