Ten people were evacuated and one person was hospitalized as Fullerton firefighters battled two structure fires Monday.
Around 11:05 a.m., firefighters responded to a commercial fire in a kitchen on the first floor of a building at 901 Starbuck Street. Roughly 10 people were evacuated from at least two housing units located on the second floor as a precaution, Fullerton Fire Department Deputy Chief Jon Fugitt said. No injuries were reported.
About an hour later, at 12:05 p.m., firefighters arrived at a residence with smoke and fire coming from a home on the 1800 block of West Carol Drive. One person was found inside a back bedroom and transported to the hospital. He may have suffered from smoke inhalation, Fugitt said.
What caused the fires was under investigation.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department, Anaheim Fire & Rescue, the Brea Fire Department and the Orange County Fire Authority assisted, officials said.
