Huntington Beach cops, firefighters shuck and jive for charity

Area cops and firefighters will engage in their yearly gastric showdown at the third annual Shuck It charity oyster-eating contest on Saturday, Jan. 20.
Team members will square off to see how many of the bivalve mollusks they can wolf down in 60 seconds. Ways & Mean Oyster House will donate $3 for each oyster consumed to the charity of the winning team’s choice. In addition, the restaurant will donate $1 for each brunch order between 10 and 11 a.m.
Last year, a three-person team representing the Huntington Beach Police Department downed 92 oysters to win the contest. The HBPD team won $276 for Colette’s Children’s Home, a Huntington Beach resource for homeless moms and their children, and single women.
