Lancaster man accused of shining laser at driver during road-rage dispute

A Lancaster man was cited after the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said he pointed a laser at another driver during a road-rage confrontation in Phelan on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The dispute happened just after midnight on Highway 138, west of Highway 2, deputies said.

The victim was driving on the 138 with the 46-year-old man behind her, a news release said. He passed her and, apparently unhappy with her speed, flashed his brake lights at her. That prompted the woman to flash her high beams, the release said. The man then shined a green laser at the woman, temporarily blinding her.

That caused the woman to rear-end his car, authorities said.

Deputies recovered the laser and cited him on suspicion of brandishing a weapon.
