Man arrested in fatal stabbing near Anaheim

ANAHEIM — A 56-year-old Yorba Linda man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of fatally stabbing a man in an unincorporated area near Anaheim.

Deputies responded around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday to the 9000 block of Canton Avenue on a report of a male stabbing victim, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

A 50-year-old Anaheim man was found inside a nearby residence with stab wounds. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Sheriff’s deputies served a pair of search warrants around 1 p.m. Wednesday and arrested Effrum Maland Burnett in connection with the killing.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, multiple weapons were recovered during the search, but further investigation is needed to determine if any of the weapons were used in the killing.

Burnett was booked on suspicion of murder at the Orange County Jail.
