Man barricades himself inside Garden Grove home for 6 hours before being taken into custody

GARDEN GROVE A man wanted on fraud and weapons charges barricaded himself inside a home for six hours Wednesday, Jan. 24, before being taken into custody by SWAT team members, according to authorities.
The incident began around 3 p.m., when Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies contacted the suspect, who was in a vehicle in the 8700 block of Bolsa Avenue in Midway City, Lt. John Roche said.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, ran from the car and then stole a van, Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Carrie Braun said.
He crashed the van in a Stater Brothers Market parking lot near Brookhurst Street and Hazard Avenue.
The suspect fled on foot and entered a nearby home in the 14000 block of Lyndon Street, Roche said. Several people inside the residence escaped safely.
The suspect refused orders by deputies to come out of the home.  Around 9 p.m., a Sheriff’s Department SWAT team entered the residence and took him into custody without incident, Braun said.
