BUENA PARK — One person was killed early Monday in a multi-vehicle crash on the 5 Freeway in Buena Park.
It was reported at 12:51 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway just north of the 91 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One of the first arriving officers reported one person was trapped inside a vehicle and another was down on the right shoulder of the roadway. A dispatcher confirmed to City News Service that there was one fatality from the crash.
A news videographer at the scene said the vehicles involved were a Bentley, what appeared to be a Toyota Prius and a compact sedan, and the fatality was in the Prius. He said paramedics took a woman from the compact sedan to a hospital for treatment.
A SigAlert was issued at 1:05 a.m., shutting down all southbound lanes with traffic getting off at Beach Boulevard. The carpool lane was reopened at 2:27 a.m., and all lanes were reopened about 4 a.m.
