Pedestrian fatally struck Monday night in Santa Ana

A man was fatally struck while crossing a street in Santa Ana on Monday night, police said.

At 10:28 p.m., the Santa Ana Police Department were notified of a man down in the roadway at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and 1st Street. Responding officers found a man suffering major injuries in the roadway and Orange County Fire Authority personnel began to treat him at the scene, police said.

The man was transported to a local hospital for further treatment, but was pronounced dead by hospital personnel, police said. No identifying information for the man was immediately available.

Police said the car that struck the man was headed west on 1st Street at the time of the incident. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
