Pitbull, Jonas Brothers highlight free (but sold out) concerts ahead of College Football title game

College football and music fans have a fun-filled weekend coming up.

The College Football Playoff National Championship has come to Inglewood with free live concerts and other attractions for fans as the TSU Horned Frogs face off against the Georgia Bulldogs on Monday, Jan. 9, at posh SoFi Stadium.

“From the concerts to the fan events, there is something for everybody – families, football fans, and non-football fans,” said Ryan Allenhall, senior director of public events and sponsorships at College Football Playoff on Thursday, Jan. 5. “It’s just a way to bring everyone together around college football.”

The Horned Frogs have a chance to win their first national championship since quarterback Davey O’Brien and the 1938 squad, but will be going against last year’s champions, Georgia and quarterback Stetson Bennett. Both teams had to win epic, high-scoring matches to snag their berth in the finale.

Before  the game kicks off at the “Palace on Prairie,” thousands of fans will be making their way to Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium to experience “AT&T Playoff Playlist Live!” – a free music event with well known and upcoming artists.

On Saturday, Jan. 7, fans will watch as multi-platinum selling global artists the Jonas Brothers and L.A.-based singer-songwriter Em Beihold take the stage. The music continues Sunday, Jan 8., with international star and Grammy-award winner Pitbull and 2023 Grammy nominee GAYLE.

Victoria Sumrall, senior producer at the Solomon Group, which is producing the live events, said she is looking forward for the energy fans bring to the concerts, national championship game and  other fan events.

“This is a game that everyone looks forward to and we love to be able to create a fun environment for (fans) to celebrate and commune together before the actual game event on Monday,” she said.

The weekend concerts, Sumrall said, will be bigger and better than they have ever staged during previous championship weekends.

Gates for “AT&T Playoff Playlist Live!” will open at 6 p.m. each day for those who pre-registered for event tickets online. The capacity for the venue is 22,000 people but tickets for the two-day event were sold out within 24 hours when announced so there will be a full house both nights, Sumrall said.

Jamie Kerr, Director of Sponsorships and Experiential Marketing at AT&T, said he was excited for fans to not only experience free, live music but also witness new technology.

AT&T will be sharing their new AT&T 5G Concert Lens – an interactive livestream experience – with fans at home and at the concerts. The feature will broadcast multiple camera angles to allow fans to select the vantage point from which they want to watch, according to the Banc of California Stadium website.

The concerts will also be streamed in the ESPN App.
