A power outage was affecting more than 1,000 homes and businesses in Laguna Beach Friday morning, Sept. 24, but should be restored sometime around 11 a.m., authorities said.
The outage was reported just before 6:50 a.m. and at one point had knocked out power to more than 4,000 homes and businesses, Southern California Edison spokeswoman Taelor Bakewell said. Power was restored to most of those customers by 9 a.m.
Failed equipment caused the outage, Bakewell said, and crews were working to find the specific source of the failure.
City officials said traffic signals may be affected, but it wasn’t immediately known if power had been cut off to any.
The Laguna Beach Unified School District schools remained open and operational, according to a statement sent to parents shortly before 7:45 a.m.
