Santas hit the slopes at Mountain High — for charity

Pops of red against the snowy slopes, that was the scene Sunday, Dec. 17 at Mountain High near Wrightwood.

Mountain High Resorts in the San Gabriel Mountains hosted Santa Sunday for the ninth year. Skiers who showed up wearing a “Santa suit, complete with red hat, beard, coat, belt, and pants” and donated $50 to Christmas Cheer All Year received a lift ticket, according to the resort’s website. Those lift tickets regularly cost $139.

Christmas Cheer All Year was looking to break the U.S. record for most Santas on skis or snowboards and needed more than 850 costumed participants, the group’s website says.

The nonprofit organization aims to take “the joy of the Christmas season” and reach “people in need all year long,” according to its website.

Mountain High has a variety of lifts and trails, along with a winter sports school and three snow parks for kids to play, the website says. Night skiing and snowboarding are also available.
