Santiago Canyon College alumna returns to campus with solo art show

Former Santiago Canyon College student and Lake Forest resident Kay Dudacek will present her solo show, “An Artist’s Journey,” at the Santiago Canyon College art gallery from Feb. 6 to March 8.
Dudacek, who went on to become a full-time artist working in Orange County, will present “An Artist’s Journey.”
“There is one thing about becoming an artist,” Dudacek said, “you never stop learning your craft. I am inspired by the beauty of the outdoors. Many of my paintings are from locations that I have traveled to while on bicycling tours.”
Dudacek works in oil paints but choses from a broad range of themes for her subjects from cultural icons to a Marine with a companion animal, the college said.
“My style is leaning towards impressionistic,” she said. “I prefer to use as few strokes as possible to capture the spontaneity and natural beauty of the landscapes around me.”
Her works will be on display in the school’s art gallery, located at the east side of Building D at 8045 Chapman Ave. in Orange. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday or by appointment.
A reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Feb. 8.
