This week, Aug. 9-13, at the OC Fair

Headed to the OC Fair this week? It is the last week of its 23-day run. Here are some things to know.

General information:

  • Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
  • General admission is $13 on Wednesday and Thursday and $15 on Friday and the weekend; tickets are $9 every day for children 6-12 and seniors 60 and older.
  • Tickets must be purchased ahead online at ocfair.com. Daily attendance is capped at 45,000 people and may sell out on popular days.
  • Parking is $12
  • Use Gate 1 on Fair Drive, which is the main gate, for Uber/Lyft/taxi drop-off and pickup

Things to do:

  • Tour the Art of Music Experience, a large exhibit in the Huntington Beach Building showcasing hand-painted reproductions of album covers, legendary musicians, neon signs and displays
  • Cheer on the All-Alaskan Racing Pigs; races start every hour and a half beginning at 2 p.m. on weekday and 12:30 p.m. on the weekend in the Plaza Pacifica. The last race is 8 p.m. each day.
  • Did you know you can get milk from a camel? There are milking demonstrations from the Oasis Camel Dairy scheduled for 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. through Sunday.
  • There are nightly food contests for children and adults, from who can eat watermelon the fastest to who can stack apples up the highest. They are free and fun, in the OC Promenade starting at 7 p.m.
  • Matt Koerner will be playing the Meadows Stage nightly this week at 7 p.m., except Friday and Saturday will be 8 p.m.
  • Hundreds of entries are submitted each year to the dozens of contests the OC Fair hosts and you can check out the winners in the OC Promenade and the buildings to either side along with other locations. There are extravagant table settings, quirky collections, striking photographs, intricate woodwork pieces and so much more.

In the Action Sports Arena (requires a ticket purchased in advance, but includes fair admission):

  • Aug. 9: Closed
  • Aug. 10: X-treme Freestyle Moto-X at 8 p.m.
  • Aug. 11:  X-treme Freestyle Moto-X at 8 p.m.
  • Aug. 12: Speedway Fair Derby at 8 p.m.
  • Aug. 13: Closed

Playing at the Hangar (requires a ticket purchased in advance, but includes fair admission):

  • Aug. 9: Wild Child, a Jim Morrison celebration, at 8:15 p.m.
  • Aug. 10: Elton-The Early Years at 8:15 p.m.
  • Aug. 11: Journey Unauthorized, a tribute to Journey, at 8:15 p.m.
  • Aug. 12: Zeppelin Live, a tribute to Led Zeppelin, at 8:15 p.m.
  • Aug. 13: Spencer Sutherland and DOUBLECAMP, at 7:30 p.m.

Playing at the Pacific Amphitheatre (requires a ticket purchased in advance, but includes fair admission):

  • Aug. 9: Beck and Phoenix at 7:30 p.m.
  • Aug. 10: Jeff Dunham at 8:15 p.m.
  • Aug. 11: Rebelution, Iration, The Expendables and Passafire at 5 p.m.
  • Aug. 12: Rebelution, Iration, The Expendables and Passafire at 5 p.m.
  • Aug. 13: Rebelution, Iration, The Expendables and Passafire at 5 p.m.
