This week, July 26-30, at the OC Fair

Headed to the OC Fair this week? Here are some things to know.

General information:

  • Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and 11 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • General admission is $13 on Wednesdays and Thursdays and $15 on Fridays and weekends; tickets are $9 every day for children 6-12 and seniors 60 and older.
  • Tickets must be purchased ahead online at ocfair.com. Daily attendance is capped at 45,000 people and may sell out on popular days.
  • Parking is $12
  • Use Gate 1 on Fair Drive, which is the main gate, for Uber/Lyft/taxi drop-off and pickup

Things to do:

  • Dairy goat breeders young and old are presenting their animals in competitions this week, including American Dairy Goats Association sanctioned shows, daily through Saturday, July 29, in the livestock area. Poultry and sheep breeders will be competing on Sunday, July 30.
  • Youngsters can get up close with goats, sheep, pigs and more at the fair’s petting zoo, which is located near the Green Gate.
  • Explore the bizarre world of bugs with an exhibit in the OC Promenade that features hands-on demonstrations and touchable displays. Open daily.
  • Want to check out the latest gadget or product, or go home with a unique handmade gift, the OC Fair offers several shopping opportunities, including dedicated areas such as the Costa Mesa Building and Crafter’s Village.
  • Check out the Magic of Frank Thurston at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. daily on the OC Promenade Stage.
  • The Orange County Wine Society is hosting seminars on a variety of topics at the fair each weekend for $30. This weekend, learn about the latest trends in wines, about pairing cheese and other foods with wine and about Mediterranean wines.

In the Action Sports Arena (requires a ticket purchased in advance, but includes fair admission):

  • July 26: Motorhome Madness Demolition Derby at 8 p.m.
  • July 27: Orange Crush Demolition Derby at 8 p.m.
  • July 28: Motorhome Madness Demolition Derby at 8 p.m.
  • July 29: Damsels of Destruction Demolition Derby at 8 p.m.
  • July 30: Orange Crush Demolition Derby at 8 p.m.

Playing at the Hangar (requires a ticket purchased in advance, but includes fair admission):

  • July 26: Dead Man’s Party, a tribute to Oingo Boingo & Danny Elfman at 8:15 p.m.
  • July 27: Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers, a tribute to ZZ Top at 8:15 p.m.
  • July 28: Damage Inc., a tribute to Metallica at 8:15 p.m.
  • July 29: Start Making Sense, a tribute to Talking Heads at 8:15 p.m.
  • July 30: Which One’s Pink? 50th Anniversary of Dark Side of the Moon at 8:15 p.m.

Playing at the Pacific Amphitheatre (requires a ticket purchased in advance, but includes fair admission):

  • July 26: Ramon Ayala and Fifel Rueda at 7:30 p.m.
  • July 27: STYK at 8:15 p.m.
  • July 28: George Thorogood & The Destroyers and Robert Cray Band at 7:30 p.m.
  • July 29: Sweet & Tender Hooligans, The Cured and The Happy Haus at 7 p.m.
  • July 30: X, English Beat and Save Ferris at 6:15 p.m
