James, a McDonald’s All-American from Sierra Canyon school and the eldest son of NBA LeBron James, is preparing for his freshman season with the Trojans.
“Bronny is a truly exceptional young man,” Sierra Canyon Head of School Jim Skrumbis said. “We are all grateful for the medical professionals at USC who provided immediate attention he needed. Sierra Canyon community wishes him well on his journey to recovery.”
It’s the second straight off-season a USC basketball player has suffered from cardiac arrest. 7-foot center Vince Iwuchukwu collapsed during an informal team workout in July of 2022. The five-star prospect had suffered sudden cardiac arrest and was hospitalized for a few days.
Iwuchukwu did end up making a recovery and played in 14 games in the latter part of the 2022-23 season.
