Police are asking the public’s help in tracking down an armed robber who held up a La Habra cellphone store last month in a crime caught on video.
The heist took place just after 6:50 p.m. Dec. 21, when a man wearing a mask walked into the WNJ Telecom/MetroPCS store at 1208 W. Whittier Blvd., La Habra police officials said.
He pulled a black semiautomatic weapon from his waistband, showed it to employees and demanded money, police said in a written statement.
He got about $1,700, then fled the area — possibly in a newer-model, silver Toyota Camry — and was not found, authorities said.
Police described the robber as a Latino man, 20 to 30 years old, about 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds. At one point, the man’s mask slipped from his face, allowing the victims to see a thick mustache and brown eyes. He was wearing a black-and-white checkered flannel shirt, blue jeans and a gray Dodgers baseball cap with a blue bill.
Police released surveillance camera footage of the robbery in hopes of generating leads.
They urged with information to contact La Habra police Detective Jason Willard at 562-383-4300. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
