Weekend protests for social justice continue in Southern California

LOS ANGELES – Demonstrators will again gather on Saturday throughout Southern California for more protests and other actions challenging systemic racism and police brutality, and advocating for change.

The nationwide movement sparked by the Memorial Day death of George Floyd in Minneapolis continues nearly eight weeks after he was killed while in police custody and now embraces a range of issues.

Events scheduled today in Los Angeles and Orange counties include:

  •  9:45 a.m. in Hollywood, Hollywood Boulevard and Ivar Avenue
  • 10 a.m. in Baldwin Hills, Norman Houston Park, 4800 S. La Brea Ave. near Stocker Street
  • 10 a.m. in DTLA by National Action Network L.A., 4269 S. Figueroa St.
  • 11 a.m. in Marina del Rey, Mindanao and Admiralty ways
  • Noon in Long Beach, Michelle Obama Library, 5870 Atlantic Ave.
  • Noon in Sherman Oaks, near Sherman Oaks Galleria, Ventura and Sepulveda boulevards
  • 2 p.m. in DTLA, on the south lawn of Los Angeles City Hall, 200 N. Spring St.
  • 2 p.m. in Hawthorne, Hawthorne City Hall, 4455 W. 126th St.
  • 2 p.m. in MidWilshire for trans women, 4625 W. Olympic Blvd.
  • 2 p.m. in Compton, for Andres Gaurdado & Vanessa Guillen, 15116 Atlantic Ave.
  • 2 p.m. in Baldwin Hills, Norman Houston Park, 4800 S. La Brea Ave.
  • 2 p.m. in Boyle Heights, 3300 E. Cesar Chavez Ave.
  • 3:30 in Garden Grove, Village Green Park, 12732 Main St.
  • 4 p.m. in Fairfax District, rally and food drive, Pan Pacific Park, 7600 Beverly Blvd.
  • 4 p.m. in Long Beach, car caravan, Cesar E. Chavez Park, 401 Golden Ave.
