Winds pick up speed Tuesday afternoon in Southern California

LOS ANGELES — A wind advisory will be in effect from 2 to 10 p.m. Tuesday for the Antelope Valley and the Los Angeles County mountains, excluding the Santa Monica Range, the National Weather Service said.

In the L.A. County mountains, southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to 45, were in the forecast.

In the Antelope Valley, southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts to 50, were expected.

Gusts could blow around unsecured objects, tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result, the NWS said.

Drivers were urged to use extra caution, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Residents were also urged to secure outdoor objects.
